Moby Dick

Jolly lucky I didn’t get harpooned this evening. The Wife™ and I went for a swim after work, indeed the first time I’ve been properly swimming in YEARS (no, bobbing about in the bath-temperature waters of the Maldives doesn’t count). The intention is to actually get some exercise and lose this belly of mine. I’m so proud of myself for staying afloat and moving along for a whole 20 lengths (and 19 breathers…) that I’m going to make this a reg’lar fing.

Hey, that’s 500 metres so far! Blimey, when I think back to when I was a kid and used to go swimming all the time… wow. 500 metres isn’t all that much.

*thinks…*

Hmm. I have an idea for a project: I’m going to re-earn my Bronze, Silver and Gold swimming badges! I still have them on my old skool blazer. Just need to remember what distances I swam (non-stop!) to earn them badges. I ’spect I can find that out somewhere… and probably a counter widget of some sort to keep track of overall distance swum! Oh yes, geekiness and swimming; a nice combo.

That’s been me, lately. F’rexample, this weekend I finished building this:

I would have finished it last weekend except I got all annoyed with it cos the right hand door overlapped a little, but not to worry; I calmly finished it off today and can’t wait to get seedlings started in it! Woohoo!

Also today, we received a brief visit from Swedish Peter*, who neither of us have met before yet we’d both spent many years at Garmin talking to Peter on the phone! He very kindly bought us some Plopp, some Kung lager and, bizarrely, some chewing tobacco! 2 out of three ain’t bad! Anyone want some chewin’ baccy? It’s free and it’s Swedish, what more could you ask for?

Oh, and whilst sorting the pics on my camera I found this little gem:

Courtesy of Lord Hutton of Tin Muff. Typical innit? Shows how often we tidy the spare room ;-)

*Bit like the Camberwell Carrott. Think about it.
