I’ve just been making lava in the kitchen!
Well, alright it was Rhubarb and Cinnamon Jam. The fruit has rocketed up out of the ground this year and, what with being forced by dint of sticking a big bucket over it, it’s come out a very delicate sort of pink. Bloody thick as well, mind! I was too excited to take pictures so you’ll just have to imagine it.
Anyway, I’d previously ordered a Jam Thermomomomomometer and a Jam Pan off eBay (amazing what you can get for a reasonable price when you snipe-bid) and suitably combined all ingredients and tools…

You’ll notice that the lava was only at about 60° C when I took the piccy: there’s no way I was going to get my camera anywhere near it when it reached jam-making temperature! Bloody viscous that stuff…
The end result!

And yes, those are the very jam jars that I scrounged as samples from a jam-jar manufacturer. Hoorah!
If it tastes nice and I can think of enough good recipes that folk might buy, I may even start making the stuff in bulk. I’ve already thought up a brand-name and so forth
For now, though, I think I’ll just enjoy the fruits (aha) of my labours and I’ll save one jar to present to next week’s DUG winner!
‹Enjoys the whole house smelling of freshly made jam… MMMMMMMM!›
