Spring is here at last! We have snow-drops! *does little happy dance on patio*
Had a thoroughly enjoyable fire in the back garden on Thursday. What better way to dispose of a load of old wood? No neighbours had their windows open this time, so I seized the opportunity* to burn stuff whilst listening to the radio, reading a book and drinking a couple of tinnies. Lovely and warm it was too, and I’m left with a bit of wood ash for the compost.
And talking of time off work well-spent, here’s what we get up to in work. We like to keep a note of repeat responses from our web development team; guess which is our favourite? Not hard seeing as I’ve only shown you three out of a possible six…
‹still has another day and a bit left of the extended weekend!›
*A lovely word, comes from the latin Ob Porto, lit. to wait outside port for the tide to swell enough to sail in.
Ooh I thought that while some ash was good for the garden when applied to the soil you weren’t meant to put wood ash on the compost heap. Doesn’t it prevent proper composting?
Wood ash is fine in small amounts, Rich - it’s coal ash you don’t want.

I took pictures of snowdrops too today
Ooh yes, very very small amounts though: http://www.gardensalive.com/article.asp?ai=647
In fact the two linked sites seem to directly contradict each other. How confusing.
Cor, who’da thunk it? Well, from practical experience it should be fine as I only ended up with about a litre (yes, I know that’s not a dry measure!) of ash and mixed it thoroughly with *ahem* accelerator before adding to all the shredded paper n veg peelings n teabags n eggshells. Worked a treat last year (the result was delicious smelling proper compost like wot Uncle Len used to make). I suppose somewhere between the two is correct: not lots but not hardly any.
Are you taking the accelerator?
As if I would Lois. I have plenty of my own already without taking yours.
Looking forward to seeing some snowdrops and bluebells when I come over next month!!
